The Little Green Book of Concrete

The Little Green Book of Concrete (2021) is a concise and accessible publication developed by the precast concrete industry—led by BIBM—to highlight the sustainability potential of precast concrete in modern construction. The book presents over one hundred key advantages of the material, explaining how precast concrete contributes to resource efficiency, durability, circularity and reduced environmental impact across its whole life cycle. It emphasises the use of local and recyclable materials, long service life, energy efficiency and resilience to climate change, while also addressing wider benefits such as improved indoor comfort, reduced waste and support for sustainable infrastructure. Aimed at a broad audience—including architects, engineers, policymakers and investors—the publication seeks to reposition concrete as a responsible and forward-looking solution for delivering more sustainable and low-carbon built environments.
