Concrete Europe welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the European Commission’s call for evidence on the forthcoming European Climate Resilience and Risk Management Initiative.
We particularly commend the recognition that the initiative will “create new markets for […] climate-resilient construction materials.”
Concrete is a key enabler of climate resilience. Concrete is both robust (able to withstand extreme events and loads) and resilient (able to quickly recover from such events). As a locally sourced (thus providing supply chain resilience), durable and versatile material, concrete plays a vital role in supporting the EU’s climate adaptation strategies and ensuring long-term risk management.
